ABOUT VIKING TRANSPORT

Viking Transport, Inc. was originally founded in 1972 as a joint venture between Woodrow Blossman of Blossman Gas and James Abston, Sr.  , with headquarters in Gilbertown, AL. Its primary purpose was to provide LPG and Butane transport services to Blossman Gas retail locations and aggregates in the off-season.

Through the years, Abston expanded as Blossman Gas grew with a service area in the states of AL, GA, FL, MS, LA and Western North Carolina.

Later in the 1980s, Blossman sold its LPG bulk transportation operations to Abston Transport to focus on its retail locations.

In 2014, after James Abston, Jr. was bought out by members of the Blossman family, and as a reflection of its diverse customer base, Abston Transport was renamed Viking Transport, Inc.  Viking now serves customers in more than 16 states, and while it still provides transportation services to Blossman retail propane locations, over 75% of its customers are non-Blossman. Viking’s main base of operations is in Petal, MS, with satellite locations in Alma, GA, and Waynesville, NC.

Under current General Manager Todd Russell’s leadership, Todd and his team have expanded Viking’s transportation offerings to include transportation of LPG, Butane, Y Grade product, Renewal Natural Gas (RNG), Aggregates, Asphalt, and other liquid fuels.

In recent years, Viking’s territory has expanded to include the Carolinas, Ohio, and the mid-Atlantic. Viking’s expansion in recent years is due to its commitment to reliably serving the numerous retail propane companies that depend on us to take care of them in the toughest of times. Our flexibility is key to our customers in handling the wide range of products in our portfolio.

After more than 50 years in business, Viking understands the key to success is our people.  At Viking, we exist for the benefit of our employees, and our greatest and most valuable assets are and will always be our transport drivers.
